Privacy Policy
Knock Run is a work tool. Your employer gives you the account, and most of what the app holds is your employer's business record. This page says plainly what is collected, who can see it, and how to get it removed.
Last updated October 13, 2026. Knock Run is operated by FOG LLC.
Who is responsible for what
Knock Run is built and operated by FOG LLC (“we”). Companies buy Knock Run for their field sales teams; each of those companies is an organization inside the app, and its data is kept separate from every other organization’s.
Your organization decides who gets an account, what is recorded about a job, and how long records are kept. It is the controller of that information; we hold and process it on their instructions. If you want to see, correct or delete something in your own record, the fastest route is your office or administrator, and you can always write to us at support@fog.tools and we will help.
What we collect
- Your account. Name, work email address, phone number, the organization you belong to, your role, and a profile photo if you add one. Passwords are stored only as a hash by our sign-in provider; nobody at FOG LLC can read them.
- Your location, while Knock Run is open or running in the background. The iPhone and iPad app uses it for two things: to show you on the canvassing map, so you can see which doors you have worked, and to show the door you are standing at on your Lock Screen (a Live Activity). The app asks for location while using the app only and never for “Always”. Once you have opened the app and it is running, location continues while it runs in the background (you will see the blue location indicator in the status bar), so the Lock Screen card can follow you from door to door. Closing Knock Run stops it. If you say no, everything else still works; the blue dot and the Lock Screen door do not.
- Your live position, for your managers. While the canvassing map is open on your phone or in your browser, Knock Run sends your position about every 30 seconds so that your organization’s supervisors (its managers and office leadership) can see where the crew is working. On their supervisor map a pin is shown as live for about five minutes after the last update, and the day’s trail of positions can be opened for each person. There is no separate switch for this: sharing is on whenever the map is open, and it stops when you leave the map, close the app or turn off location in iOS Settings.
- What your Lock Screen shows. The Lock Screen card shows your name, your title and organization with its logo, your profile photo (or initials) and a QR code that opens your digital ID card, how many doors you have dispositioned today against your goal, and the street address and town of the door you are at. The Doors today widget shows the count only. Neither ever shows a homeowner’s name. Anyone who can see your phone’s Lock Screen can see that card; you can turn it off in iOS Settings at any time.
- Notifications, if you allow them. A push address for your phone from Apple, so we can send appointment reminders, messages and assignments. While your Lock Screen card is showing, we also keep its current contents (the street address, doors today and your goal) so that a change to your goal can update the card; that copy is deleted when the card ends, and within two days at the latest. A notification shows what the matching item in the app shows: a title and a short line of text.
- The work you record. Doors and leads (street address, and the homeowner’s name, phone or email if you type one in), the status you set, notes, appointments, signed agreements, photos you attach, tasks, messages to your team, time sheet entries, and the counts your pay is figured from.
- Onboarding paperwork, where your organization uses it. Documents you upload or sign, which can include a W-9 carrying a taxpayer ID, and bank details for direct deposit. These are stored as files in a restricted folder, not as searchable fields, and are readable only by you and the administrators your organization authorizes.
- Technical records. Sign-in times, IP address, device and browser type, which screens of the web app you open (kept 180 days, then deleted), and error logs. An audit log records who changed what inside the app, which is how an office proves a record was not altered.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your information, and we do not rent or share it for anyone else’s marketing.
- We do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites. The iPhone and iPad app contains no advertising SDK and no analytics of our own, which is why it never shows the “Ask App Not to Track” prompt. The one outside SDK that reports back on its own is the Google Maps SDK that draws the map in that app: it sends Google crash and performance diagnostics, basic usage data and a device identifier, which Google uses to run and measure its map service under its own terms. The SDK draws your position on the map on your phone; we do not send it your name or your work records.
- We do not collect your location once the app is closed, and we never ask for “Always” location permission. While Knock Run runs in the background, your location is used to pick the door shown on your Lock Screen: it is matched against the doors already loaded on your phone, and Apple’s map service draws the small map and, where there is no door, names the street. The position that picks your Lock Screen door is not sent to Knock Run or to your managers; only the door it matched (its address) is sent, so the card can be updated. What your managers and the office see is the position sent from the canvassing map described above; it is recorded with your working records, and that trail is deleted after 30 days. The staff at FOG LLC who run the service can also see these records, together with the technical records above, for support, security and billing: never for anything else.
- We do not use your organization’s data to train any machine-learning model.
Why we hold it
To run the product you were given: to sign you in, to show your team’s doors and customers on a map, to keep the record of a sale, to count the work your pay is based on, to support you when you write in, and to keep the service secure and working. We also keep what the law requires us to keep, such as tax paperwork.
If you are a homeowner, not a user
A sales representative may record your address and (if you give it) your name and contact details, along with notes about the visit. That record belongs to the company whose representative knocked. To see it, correct it, or have it removed, contact that company. If you are not sure who they were, write to support@fog.tools with the address and the date, and we will pass your request to the right organization and tell you that we have.
How it is protected
Everything travels over HTTPS. Data is stored in a database where each organization’s rows are walled off by row-level security, not merely by screens, and files live in private buckets that refuse a request from outside the owning organization. Access inside the app follows the role and permissions your office sets, and changes are written to an audit log. No system is perfect; if a breach ever affects your information we will tell your organization and the people affected, as the law requires.
How long it is kept
Working records are kept while your organization is a customer, and for as long as it asks us to keep them. When an organization leaves, its data is deleted or returned within 90 days, except anything we are legally required to retain. Database backups are held for a limited period by our hosting provider and then overwritten. Your own account record is kept while you have a seat; when the office removes you, the account is deactivated and the work you did stays with your employer’s records.
Your choices
- Location, photos and the Lock Screen card. Turn any of them off in iOS Settings at any time: Settings › Knock Run (Location, Photos, Live Activities). In the app, Settings › Lock Screen & shortcuts › Door card on Lock Screen switches the card off, and that also stops location in the background. Closing Knock Run also stops location, in the background and otherwise. Your organization’s administrator can hide a person from the live supervisor view. The rest of the app keeps working.
- Notifications. They are optional. Turn them off in iOS Settings › Knock Run › Notifications, or choose quiet delivery there; everything they say is also in the app.
- See or fix your record. Ask your office, or write to us.
- Delete your account. In the iPhone and iPad app, go to Settings › Privacy and data › Request account deletion and send the request; it goes straight to your organization’s administrators, who carry it out, and the screen confirms it was sent. You can also email support@fog.tools from your work address with the subject “Delete my account”, or ask your administrator. We remove your sign-in and your personal profile within 30 days and confirm when it is done. Work records that belong to your employer (a sold job, a signed agreement, a time sheet) stay with your employer, who decides their fate; that is their business record, not ours to erase.
- If you are in a place with statutory rights (for example California or the EU/UK), you may request access, correction, deletion, a copy of your data, or object to a use. Write to us and we will route the request to your organization and support them in answering it. We do not charge for this and we will not treat you differently for asking.
Children
Knock Run is a workplace tool issued to adults by the companies that use it. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has an account, write to us and we will remove it.
Where the data lives
The service runs on servers in the United States. If you use Knock Run from another country, your information is transferred to and stored in the United States.
Changes to this policy
If we change it, the date at the top changes with it, and material changes are announced inside the app before they take effect. The version you are reading has been in effect since October 13, 2026.
